Research

The Department of Molecular Cell Physiology examines how the interaction of macromolecules gives rise to life, i.e., to the functioning of autonomous living organisms. It also studies how function may deteriorate or can be improved, in the contexts of human health and biotechnology.

Its permanent staff directs overlapping research groupings on the topics:

The Department participates in the Netherlands Institute for Systems Biology (NISB) and the Research School BioCentrum Amsterdam and twins with the Manchester Centre for Integrative Systems Biology (http://www.mcisb.org/ ) as well as with Manchester's Doctoral Training Centre on Integrative Systems Biology from Molecules to Life (DTC-ISBML) ().

The Department participates in the Research School BioCentrum Amsterdam which focuses on ‘Entering the Living Cell".
