* Annual NVTB Meeting, 22-23 May @ Schoorl, NL
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear theoretical scientists,

The annual meeting of the NVTB will this year be held on Thursday and
Friday, May 22 and 23 in Schoorl. Note that registration and
submission is open. Abstracts for talks and poster can be submitted
till April 5! http://www.bio.vu.nl/nvtb/meeting2014/.

Concerning this meeting there are a number of announcements to be made:

1. This year we have two invited speakers: Prof. dr. Peter de Ruiter,
who will announce the title of his talk later and Dr. Jaap Kaandorp,
who will speak about "Modelling gene regulation of early development
and cell movement in embryogenesis". For those who are new: the
yearly NVTB meeting is an informal meeting especially useful for PhDs
to present their work.

2. To make the meeting more attractive, we will have for the first
time a price (EU 100,-) for the best young speaker (meaning a masters'
student or a PhD student).

3. After four years of being chair of the Dutch Society of theoretical
biology (NVTB), I will resign with the comforting knowledge that I
leave behind a great secretary, Renske Vroomans and a wonderful
treasurer, Nienke Hartemink. Furthermore, as prescribed by the
statutes of our society, the board has to propose a candidate, and we
are happy to announce that Dr. Jaap Kaandorp (computational Science,
UvA) has kindly agreed to be candidate for this position as my
competent successor. Any other persons interested in being the chair
of the NVTB, please inform via mail Renske Vroomans,
renske.vroomans@gmail.com about this. Please do so until two weeks
before the meeting. We will then send around information about all
candidates before the meeting. In case of several candidates we will
vote during the annual meeting in Schoorl.

4. Furthermore, our treasurer, Nienke Hartemink, has served also
served 4 years. We propose to prolong the term of our treasurer,
Nienke Hartemink. Since officially a person can maximally serve two
terms of three years on the board, we propose to prolong her term with
another 2 years. This will be voted on also at the general meeting.

We hope to welcome many of you!

Yours sincerely,
Charlotte Hemelrijk (chair of the NVTB)
