A symposium in the honor of Prof. dr. Paulien Hogeweg

Thirty years ago Paulien Hogeweg and Ben Hesper coined the
term Bioinformatics [1-3] "for the study of informatic processes in
biotic systems". To celebrate this and Paulien's 65th birthday
we organize a symposium on Friday 19 december 2008 in the
Boothzaal of the Utrecht University library.

Program:
8.30-9:00 Coffee

9.00-9:45 Martijn Huynen, NCMLS (Nijmegen): Genomic
correlates of protein function

9:45-10:30 Maarten Boerlijst, IBED (Amsterdam): Patterns and Evolution

10:30-11:00 Coffee

11:00-11:45 Erik van Nimwegen, Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (Basel):
Evolution of gene-content in bacteria: toward quantitative models

11:45-12:30 Nick Savill, Centre for Infectious Diseases (Edinburgh):
A Tryp through time

12:30-13:30 Lunch

13:30-14:15 Berend Snel, Theoretical Biology and Bioinformatics (Utrecht):
Flexiblity and conservation in the evolution of protein complexes

14:15-15:00 Stan Maree, Theoretical Biology and Bioinformatics (Utrecht):
Modelling an Organism

15:00-15:30 Coffee

15:30-16:15 Jaap Heringa, Centre for Integrative Bioinformatics (Amsterdam):
The high road in sequence analysis

16:15-17:00 Rob de Boer, Theoretical Biology and Bioinformatics (Utrecht):
Theoretical Immunology and Immunoinformatics

17:00-18:00 Drinks
