Current developments on DEBtox
The real power of the method is in applications beyond the domain of
the classical descriptive ones (such as those based on log-logit or
log-probit models). These applications include
- the extrapolation from effects on individuals, to those of
populations
- the evaluation of tests with a varying concentration of toxicant
- the analysis of mixtures
- the inclusion of metabolic tansformations and pharmacokinetic
information (including receptor mediated effects)
- the relationship between toxicity parameters and physico-chemical
properties of the compound (K_ow, pH, ionisation degree)
The references give
details about these applications.
Current developments include
- methods for varying concentrations (in collaboration with
Cemagref, Lyon)
- methods for mixtures of compounds
- individual-to-population extrapolation of effects for species with
different modes of reproduction (in collaboration with Univ of
Wageningen)
- statistical methods for the more-sample case; this includes data
of similar type (e.g. survival data, to evaluate differences in
parameters values between de samples), and of different type
(e.g. survival and reproduction data, to identify the mode of action
of the compound and estimate parameters that are of physiological
importance)
