Abstract

Parametric analyses are presented for the mortality rates obtained from bioassays. In this paper we base the large sample theory on the estimation and testing of no. small and ultimate effects of test compounds on the maximum likelihood principle. The relevance of the LC 50 in toxicity tests and hazard evaluation is discussed. The analysis of the accumulation and elimination behaviour of test compounds through mortality rates is described. A method is presented for estimating the disappearance rate of the test compound in a semistatic bioassay from the mortality rates of the test organisms. The application of the theory is illustrated by several examples.
