The only assumed difference between a juvenile and an embryo is that an embryo has no assimilation, and a juvenile has. Many species turned out to follow this pattern; I give examples of a bird and a shark. Over time, however,, we discovered that quite a few species deviate from this pattern, and these deviations can be classified into 5 categories, that I will review and illustratrate with examples.
